Medical Office Receptionist, Radiation Center

Oregon Urology Institute has a full time Medical Office Receptionist position available at our Radiation Center.

Oregon Urology Institute is one of the largest, most advanced urological centers in the Northwest. Oregon Urology Institute provides patients with some of the region's finest medical experts covering every major urological specialty using proven and leading-edge technologies such as robotic surgery, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.

We are looking for someone with excellent people skills to serve and care for our patients on the phone and in person in a professional/compassionate manner. This role will coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of the healthcare environment. They will support the delivery of quality patient care.

  • Greet Radiation Center patients and visitors including patients for Apheresis Unit.
  • Check in patients, verify and update necessary information in the Electronic Medical Record, EMR.
  • Greet and log in healthcare industry and business representatives to Business Visitor Log. Issue visitor badge accordingly.
  • Ensure patient information is accurate, including billing information.
  • Uphold high standards for patient confidentiality and health information (HIPAA).
  • Request prior authorizations as needed.
  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and collect co-pay/ payments.
  • Order and maintain stock of forms and office supplies.
  • Receive commercially shipped supplies including deliveries for Apheresis Unit.
  • Answer, route and transfer incoming calls as appropriate. Specifically route medical concerns to the nurse, physician, and/or therapists.
  • Initiate first section of the feedback form for Apheresis Unit patients, or patient's representative, if one is requested in person, by phone or in writing.
  • Document pertinent health information in the patient's chart (EMR) and keep appropriate staff members adequately informed of such information.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with Site Manager regarding relevant concerns regarding patients, clinic, operations, etc.
  • Work closely with providers and nursing staff.
  • Perform other related duties as requested or necessary.
  • Schedule laboratory testing and outpatient procedures and answers patient questions regarding their appointments and testing.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology
  • Knowledge of computer and relevant software applications, ARIA preferred
  • Knowledge of general administrative and clerical procedures
  • Have a TEAM/PATIENT first mentality.
  • Must be flexible and quick learner.
  • Must have strong communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills required
  • Skill in answering telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner.
  • Ability to multi task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and fun personality
  • Excellence in attention to detail, adaptability, information and collection management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of medical procedures and diagnosis related to Urology.
  • 1-2 years relevant experience.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare insurance.
