Oregon Urology Institute has a part time Pharmacy Technician position available.

Oregon Urology Institute is one of the largest, most advanced urological centers in the Northwest. Oregon Urology Institute provides patients with some of the region's finest medical experts covering every major urological specialty using proven and leading-edge technologies such as robotic surgery, immunotherapy, and radiation therapy.

Oregon Urology Institute has an In Office Dispensary that focuses on dispensing oral oncolytic medication for metastatic prostate cancer patients. You will work as part of a care team that includes serving nursing and business office staff, physicians and pharmaceutical representatives. The ability to work independently, have acute attention to detail, record keeping and strong communication skills as you will be speaking with patients and physicians on a daily basis are a few desired skills for this position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Accept the full responsibility for the patient's pharmacy care plan
  • Answer patient questions, communicated with providers and troubleshoot/resolve problems promptly
  • Aid in streamlining communication between the patient, insurance companies, physicians, nurses, lab and other healthcare-related parties
  • Help patients with their drug therapy and pharmacy care issues
  • Maintain current notes and paperwork related to the patient's drug therapy and pharmacy care plan
  • Inform patients of financial requirements and prescription assistance options
  • Promote patients' drug compliance along with monthly care calls to patients
  • Understand the various challenges of specific diseases (including but not limited to prostate cancer)
  • Arrange medication prior authorizations with third parties and ensures medications are ordered timely
  • Coordinate responses and resolutions with appropriate internal and external parties
  • Retain experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure; this may include using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and being able to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Exhibit typing skills of at least 30 wpm
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with physician/healthcare practices
  • Understand and interpret strong interpersonal and "people" skills
  • Work as part of a team to provide support to other members of the healthcare team
  • Process new prescriptions and refill prescriptions
  • Report all drug adverse events
  • Perform all tasks in a safe manner that is consistent with corporate policies as well as state and federal laws
  • Other tasks and jobs may be included in position depending on need or demand



Job Qualifications

  • Be at least 18 years of age (or as required by state law)
  • 2 years of experience (preferred)
  • OR Pharmacy license (preferred)

  • Strong communication skills with staff and to management is issues arise (patients/providers/staff)
  • Participate in accreditation surveys, Process Improvement and Quality Assurance
  • Follow outlined policies and procedures
  • Maintain information confidentiality
