Pharmacy Technician/Catheter Program Assistant

Oregon Urology Institute (OUI) is one of the largest urology practices in Oregon. OUI is the only urology practice in Lane and Douglas county, has satellite locations in Roseburg and Florence with our main office located in Springfield. We have 25+ providers (MD/PA/NP) and around 200 employees between OUI and OSC (day surgery center).

Briefly, this position is to support the In Office Dispensary (IOD) and intermittent catheter program. Our IOD assists patients in finding funding for their oral oncolytic medications, preparing medications, ensuring documentation is accurate in the EMR, validating Rx with physician and accurate billing using a pharmacy software system. We have over 350 patients who use intermittent catheters daily to empty their bladder. Assisting patients by placing orders for catheters and needed supplies, ensuring documentation is thorough in the EMR, obtaining signatures and copayments for delivery, etc.

Essential Functions:

Oregon Urology Institute In Office Dispensary

o Fill prescriptions

o Complete care calls prior to filling Rx's

o Ensure payment is approved prior to dispensing the medication

o True up all prescriptions at end of day (submit all money collected to the business office, void any prescriptions that are not filled that day)

o Assist/facilitate patients to get funding through various foundations.

o Keep meticulous records

o Other duties as assigned


Catheter Program Assistant

o Assist with care calls

o Communication with patients on when supplies will arrive.

o Speak with patients while in clinic about catheter options/cost

o Deliver catheter to patient cars in OUI parking lot

o Order catheter samples for home delivery, when necessary if patient is nearly out of supplies

o Keep meticulous records

o Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

o Pharmacy Technician certification (preferred)

o Proven experience working independently and in a team environment

o Familiarity working with insurance companies, patient assistance programs

o High school diploma

Experience Required:

o Minimum of 2 years Pharmacy Technician experience


Skills Needed:

o Must be flexible, quick learner, team player

o Excellent computer skills and ability to work simultaneously in different computer applications

o Ability to multitask

o Self-motivated, driven, does not need to be prompted to complete tasks

o Must be able to communicate in both written and verbal form clearly and effectively to physicians, patients and coworkers.

o Must develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with physicians and staff.
